3 years ago I found a wonderful workout buddy and together we accomplished more than I had alone in 10 years. We got each other up and out of bed. We lifted weights, trained for a 10K and motivated each other to lose weight we had been carrying for far too long. I felt amazing, I looked amazing and I vowed to keep it up.
A few years later, a move, 2 job changes and 20 lbs later, I am final ready to get back to health, feeling good and get back into my skinny pants!
I've learned a secret formula for my future success.
Me + eating what I want + drinking what I want + no exercise = Me overweight
If I want to change the way I look and stay that way, I need to change the equation.

Bust: 35
Waist: 31
Hips: 41
Program: From Couch to 10K in 10 weeks .... AND Lose 10-20lbs in the Process.
Exercise: Run 4 times a week. A combination of run/walking, increasing the amount of time I run each week. Saturdays are my long run. I take Sundays off with another optional day off on Thursday.
On the days that I run, I have been doing the 30 day shred. It is a interval training program that alternates cardio and strength training. I chose this program because it is more convenient for me to work out at home right now. Eventually, I'll go to the gym for strength training.
Tuesdays and Thursdays I cross train. My personal favourite cardio class is Spinning! In an hour, I sweat my butt off and burn a ton of calories. The instructors are always entertaining. I've been making it to at least one class per week.
Food:
Using my favourite tracking app (fitness pal), I have a goal to eat 1500 calories per day. I also get to eat additional calories for every calorie I burn (which typically results in about 1800 calories per day). I love that the app tracks my vitamin intake, protein, fiber, fat etc. I find that near the end of the day I make food choices based on what nutrients I'm missing. I really am thinking more about what I put in my body!
I am cutting out my nightly glass(es) of wine. I am allowed to indulge on Fridays. As a substitute, I drink low-calorie cranberry juice with sparkling water. If I put it in a wine glass, I don't feel like I'm denying myself! I'm also drinking lots of herbal tea before bed. These two small changes are really helping me to stay hydrated!
I'm only on week 2 and I've lost 5 lbs already :)
